Kilifi Schools Participatory Video Project 2015
Students from Chasimba, Ngerenya, Takaungu and Katana Ngala Secondary Schools have been working closely with researchers from the Kenya Medical Research Institute Wellcome Trust Research Programme (KWTRP) to produce short videos to express their views about several issues including their participation in the KWTRP's School Engagement Programme SEP. Students learned how to use a camcorder and made a total of 27 films to describe their experiences and views.
Here are some of the videos they made:
Katana Ngala's video about SEP activities:
Ngerenya Secondary school made a film to explore what KWTRP does
Students from Takaungu made a film to express their feelings about corrupt employers
Students from Chasimba made several films promoting education and and describing the implications of early marriages.
Making these films have enabled students to voice their views and concerns about health research, careers, education challenges and as the next film from Takaungu shows: the harms of drug abuse
